$1M announced for Plattsburgh Airport Industrial Park

WASHINGTON, D.C. | Clinton County will now receive a $1 million grant from the Small Business Administration to update a manufacturing facility at the Plattsburgh Airport Industrial Park. The funding will provide interior improvements for a multipurpose facility in the Industrial Park ensuring it is ready to host prospective industrial tenants who will contribute to the already successful high-tech manufacturing sector in the North Country. "This award is welcomed news for Clinton County," Mark Henry, Chairperson for the Clinton County Legislature, said Sept. 26. "This funding will rehabilitate much-needed space that will continue to expand the footprint of the Plattsburgh International Airport Industrial Park. We are profoundly grateful to (U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik) for securing this critical funding and for continuing to shine a light on the endless opportunities in Clinton County." The facility in the Plattsburgh International Airport Industrial Park was originally constructed by the United States Air Force in 1956. This funding will provide for necessary updates and allow the building to be an attractive site to prospective industrial tenants. Improvements will include suspect hazardous material abatement, removal of demising walls, and some building, mechanical, and electrical systems upgrades to modernize the interior space for manufacturing, storage, and/or processing capabilities. Stefanik, who announced the funding following months of advocacy, said, "I am committed to bringing the concerns of New York's 21st District to the highest levels, which is why I worked throughout the appropriations process to include this priority for our communities. Now, this critical funding will transform a dilapidated multipurpose facility into a modern industrial building ready to host new high-tech businesses and strengthen the economy of the North Country." Stefanik advocated for inclusion of the project in the Fiscal Year 2022 Appropriations Package.
