Fort's corn maze opens for season

TICONDEROGA | One of the very first early signs of the impending autumn in Ticonderoga has appeared on the scene; Fort Ticonderoga's six-acre Heroic Corn Maze is now officially open for the season. "The Heroic Corn Maze is a family favorite for all ages," said Ryann Wiktorko, Group Sales Manager and Communications Specialist at Fort Ticonderoga. "The corn is the tallest it has been in all the years of the maze so it is the best maze to date. We encourage families to spend the day with us and to include this life-size puzzle in their adventure." The six-acre Heroic Corn Maze features a different design every year, allowing for a fun annual family tradition. Visitors will tackle Ticonderoga-related questions throughout the challenge, using their knowledge of history to navigate the intricate puzzle. Answering all of the questions correctly will set guests upon the proper path to victory. Fort Ticonderoga develops the Heroic Corn Maze with a professional maze design company from Utah that uses computer software to translate intricate designs onto the landscape, creating customized designs year after year. The design is inspired by the Fort's living history portrayal reflected in their daily programming. This season, 1759 is the year highlighted, featuring the British Army as they guarded the Fort. "Fort Ticonderoga is proud of its agricultural history with gardens dating to 1756. Today, the formal display King's Garden, along with educational Discovery Gardens, apple orchards, and farmland including the Heroic Corn Maze highlights our commitment to sustainable modern farming practices," stated Wiktorko. The Heroic Corn Maze will be open Tuesday- Sunday, Aug.13-28, and weekends only Sept. 3- Oct. 16. Entry to the Heroic Corn Maze is included in Fort Ticonderoga general admission and is free to Ticonderoga residents (with proof of residency) and Fort Ticonderoga members. The maze is also dog friendly.
