PLATTSBURGH | Finding a passion in life is something that everyone strives for. For some it's baking, for others, it's playing music, but for eight-year-old Noah Facteau, it's fishing. Noah is part of Knotty Boys Fishing, a fishing brand with 5,000 followers. About four months ago, Knotty Boys Fishing expanded its offerings and stepped into the world of e-commerce. "It was a lot of work to do it. To create the LLC and then to apply to all the vendors as a distributor, that took a lot of time, that took months," Adam said about the process of getting the business up and running. Knotty Boys Fishing offers all the electronics a bass angler would need. "We sell Talons, Raptors, trolling motors, graphing," Noah listed. Although Noah is only eight-years-old, he's helping out his Dad with the family business. "It's a lot of work. He gets the fun part. When we go out, and we do the videos, and we make the post, and update the website. But it's been great," Adam explained on Noah's roll. Noah also helps process the orders once they come in, although it's easy to see his favorite part about this business is fishing. "And all he does is eat, sleep, and talk about fishing," stated Adam. FISHING CONNECTIONS Noah isn't only being exposed to the business side of Knotty Boys Fishing, he's also been getting the opportunity to meet some of his favorite anglers, and some pretty impressive people in the fishing community. "We get to talk to people all over the country about fishing so that's super neat. We've met a lot of great people," said Adam. Destin DeMarion, Scott Martin, and Seth Feider are Noah's top three favorite people that he's met so far. "Dustin DeMarion is a pro and Noah turned eight January 10, and Dustin called him on his birthday and invited him to go fishing so we went to Erie, Penn. in the spring to go fishing with Dustin in his boat so that was pretty cool," Adam explained. Not only has Knotty Boys Fishing gotten to meet some impressive people, but they've also made sales all over the country as well, including the lady bass angler of the year. Adam said, "One of the cooler people we met, a lady from Kentucky, and she was the lady bass angler of the year for the women's division. Which is not as popular as the males for whatever reason but yeah she was the person and she reached out to us and we rigged her whole entire boat." TOURNAMENT WIN It seems as if the dedication Noah is putting into his fishing is starting to pay off, as he recently won the Lake Champlain International Father's Day Derby in the Junior Cool Water category. He also placed first in Junior's Overall and came in third for Cool Water Overall. It is estimated that there were over 4,000 anglers competing in the tournament. "It's crazy like some spots we go to there's no one and some spots there's like to many to fish," Noah recalled. Noah ended up taking home over $1,200 dollars, which he plans to save most of. "Probably going to save it for a few years so when I'm old enough I can get my own bass boat," said Noah. FUTURE PLANS If one thing is certain it's that Noah plans to keep fishing. Adam described the tentative plans for the future, "We're probably going to try some Thursday night tournaments. There's a couple of clubs that do shorter Thursday evening ones, and hopefully next year we'll get back in the local tournament trail that I used to do a lot. And then once he's 14 he'll be eligible for some of the bigger events to go as a co-angler." In the meantime, Knotty Boys Fishing is going to keep building its business so that Noah and his brothers have something to inherit one day to support their fishing dreams. "So really we just took what we had and just expanded it. Trying to build a business so these boys, if fishing really becomes their life and their passion that they'll have a business that they can grow into and support, cause it's very expensive," Adam summarized.
