Ti Arts' Downtown Gallery to host Lake George painter

TICONDEROGA | A love of Lake George and a passion for painting will be brought together in an upcoming exhibit, titled "Savor the Day," by artist Wendy Soliday, at the Ti Arts' Downtown Gallery, located at 119 Montcalm St. in Ticonderoga. The show will be exhibiting from July 15 through July 30, with its opening reception slated for Friday, July 15 from 5-7 p.m. Proceeds from sales from the exhibit will be used to support the Lake George Association and their continued work in protecting the lake's clean water. The LGA has architected and advanced a science-guided, partner-driven model of freshwater protection designed for adaptation and scaling across the country and worldwide. Information and educational materials about the ways one can get involved in the LGA's efforts to protect the lake will be readily available. This exhibit is Soliday's third in the Lake George area. Her aim is to heighten the public's awareness of the need to protect this precious and vulnerable resource. Soliday's paintings celebrate the outstanding beauty of Lake George. Rendered in pastels, watercolors, and oils, her work dances with light and atmosphere. Soliday has spent the last 74 summers on the shores of Lake George at her family cottage. She has exhibited nationally in such places as the National Arts Club in New York, the Boston Library, and the Governor's Office in Montpelier, VT. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, hosted solo exhibits throughout New England, and teaches painting and drawing in her home state Vermont. In her own words, Soliday says, "The world is too stunning not to paint. While I am painting, I often feel like I am bursting."
