Plattsburgh goes green for April with SUNY students

PLATTSBURGH | Spring is here and the City of Plattsburgh and the Town of Plattsburgh are joining forces with SUNY Plattsburgh's Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. and University Police to "GreenUP" our community with a coordinated community-wide cleanup day on Saturday, April 23. In honor of Earth day, residents and students alike are encouraged to get outside in local neighborhoods, local parks, the downtown district, SUNY campus, or the City Beach to pick up litter, organic waste, and/or plant trees and flowers. Participating is simple: register for the clean-up by going to https://forms.gle/5pgYETguirfGAqzr9 to win prizes. Post photos using the hashtag #PlattsburghGreenUP2022 and tag @discover_plattsburgh, @SLU_AE, and @thetownofplattsburgh for more chances to win. Garbage bags, gloves, and paper yard waste bags will be available to pick up at City Hall, 41 City Hall Place, between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Lowe's Home Improvement donated the yard waste bags for this event. After the cleanup participants are asked to return to City Hall between 1- 3 p.m. for an ice cream exchange. Mr. Ding-a-ling will be handing out free ice cream to those who drop off their bagged trash from the community clean-up, while supplies last. Please note that the community clean-up is intended for public spaces in our community (sidewalks, parks, etc) and the Town and City of Plattsburgh will not accept refuse from residents' personal homes. All Plattsburgh events are subject to change or cancellation and will abide by the most up-to-date guidance from the Clinton County Health Department regarding COVID-19 precautions.
