Martin Prosper Moran (Mickey)

TICONDEROGA | Our beloved Father, Martin Prosper Moran (Mickey) passed peacefully at his family's home with his daughter Kathryn, son Mark and son-in-law Paul at his side with distant family sending love and prayers. Mickey will be joining his beloved wife Esther Minnie Moran (Jenny) who passed on Dec. 6, 2021. They were inseparable in life and are now inseparable in eternity. Mickey was born in Boston, MA to his father Martin Austin Moran and mother Florice Bordeau-Moran who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his children Steven, Kathryn, Mark and Linsey. Son-in-law Paul, daughter-in-law Kathy, daughter-in-law Maria and son-in-law Robbie. He is also survived by his sister Eileen Moran-Moore and brother and sister-in-law William and Pat LaFrance and sister-in-law Kathy LaFrance. Also grandchildren Kyle, Heather, Jennifer, Shanna, Patrick, Rocky, Jeremiah, Kathryn and Matthew, great-grandchildren Michael and Austin and numerous much-loved nieces and nephews. Mickey will be joining his son Patrick who preceded him in death at age 7. How happy he will be to see Patrick, Jenny and his Mom and Dad and all his dear relatives and friends who have been waiting for him. Mickey moved with his family to Ticonderoga, NY just after graduating from high school. He then met the love of his life Jenny and they were married for 71 blessed years. Mickey joined International Paper where he worked and took early retirement at age 55. He was the oldest surviving member of the Ticonderoga National Guard unit where he proudly served his country and retired at the rank of Major. Upon retirement from International Paper, Mickey and Jenny bought property near Eagle Lake, NY and restored an old building and built it up to a very prosperous, popular antique store, Moran's Country Store. They opened and ran the antique store each summer from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend as partners to age 90, Dad and age 87, Mom. When the antique store was closed in the fall they became "snowbirds" and traveled to Labelle, FL every winter where they had a beautiful site at Grandma's Grove RV Park. They cherished their winters there and made many dear and lasting friends. Mickey loved to travel, read maps and loved nature. His favorite hobbies were bird watching, oil painting landscapes, a bee keeper with him and Mom harvesting mouth-watering honey and they also worked together tapping local maple trees and collecting the sap and boiled it down the old-fashioned way to make delicious maple syrup. It was hard work but they did it together. Mickey also did wood carvings, duck decoys and fish which he then painted to exact replicas; and everyone had to have one of his hand carved walking sticks which he collected on his many walks in the woods. He would then hand paint them with every kind of wildlife imaginable, birds, ducks, frogs, fish, whatever his fancy. His other love was deer hunting with his sons and his hunting buddies and he told so many stories over the years of his hunting trips to Putt's Pond and his beloved Berrymill Pond up on Chilson Hill. Our family is heartbroken over the loss of our dear father but cherish the many, many years we had with him and we will never forget all the words of wisdom and love he bestowed on us all. He was loved by many. If anyone is inclined, Mickey would like any donations to go to any nature or bird sanctuary organization. Mickey has donated his body to science to continue his legacy of teaching and learning. There will be a private family memorial for him at a future date. We wish to thank the loving care that Hospice gave to our father. They are angels. Rest In Peace Dad.
