AVCS superintendent set to retire

AUSABLE VALLEY | After more than three decades in education, AuSable Valley Central School Superintendent Paul D. Savage will officially retire in September. "With a heavy heart and much gratitude, I wanted to inform you that it is my official plan and intention to retire in September 2022. I am sharing this news with you at this time because I wanted the AVCS families and communities to hear of my retirement intentions first before we begin a search for a potential replacement," Savage said in a Feb. 2 letter to families. "I have been so truly blessed to be a part of the Patriot family for most of my life and Patriot Pride has always been at the center of my core. Beginning as a young Kindergarten student in school at AVCS and now for what will be heading into 18 years as the very proud superintendent of your school district. "It has been a tremendous honor and the privilege of a lifetime to serve our outstanding students, families, faculty/staff, and to proudly represent our wonderful communities of AVCS. I consider AVCS as a part of my family and will do so for the rest of my life." Savage has spent 32 years in education with 28 of those spent in administration. "It is now a good time for me to retire and spend some quality time doing some of the things that have taken the backseat over the years due to the many responsibilities of the position. This includes traveling with my wife and spending quality time visiting my two adult children and their families. I also hope to do more golfing, boating, camping, and fishing. It's a good time for me to retire and enter a new chapter of life but I will carry the memories of AVCS with me everywhere I go." Savage extended heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the years of accomplishments and growth while at the helm of the local district "I will forever be loyal and thankful to AVCS and as I have always told each graduating class at AVCS, "once a Patriot always a Patriot" and forever that I will always be! It has been an amazing ride and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart."
