Dannemora crash claims the life of local child

DANNEMORA | Authorities said a one-car rollover crash on wintery roads has claimed the life of a young Morrisonville boy and left his two siblings hospitalized with serious injuries. New York State Police said the accident happened on General Leroy Manor Road at about 9 a.m. Dec. 4. When first responders, police and ambulances responded to the crash, they found the driver and three young children seriously injured. As the investigation continued Dec. 8, authorities believe the car driven by Hanna Dubrey-Bordeau, 17, Dannemora, was going southwest when it went off the road, hitting a tree and barn. The crash left Dubrey-Bordeau and three children in the backseat, Cole Bradley, 4; Jayden Bradley 5, and Sadie Bradley, 6, of Morrisonville with a range of injuries. The front seat passenger, Zubulyn Provost, 18, West Chazy, was not injured. The three siblings were taken by helicopter and ambulance to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, where they remained hospitalized in critical condition. As the community quickly rallied with support, 4-year-old Cole tragically passed away from his injuries Tuesday, police said. The two older children remained hospitalized Dec. 8 as Dubrey-Bordeau also continues to recover. Police said a preliminary investigation determined the children were buckled in with lap and shoulder restraints at the time. The crash remains under investigation as the families now mourn the loss. Both families commended first responders for their quick action and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming community support. Prayers and donations have been quickly pouring in as word of Cole's passing rocked the close-knit community. Cole is survived by his siblings and parents, John and Carrie Bradley, as well as a large extended family in the area. Loved ones describe the young boy as full of energy with a smile that lit up the room. He had a fondness for fishing and race cars and enjoyed spending his time outside and with his older siblings. As of Dec. 8, a GoFundMe for the siblings had raised $8,335 to help with the unexpected expenses and difficult days ahead. Donations to the Bradley family can be made here. Services will be announced in the coming days. As word of Cole's passing swept across the community, Saranac Central School District Superintendent Javier Perez sent a letter to the school community Dec. 8, saying the "entire school district is heartbroken over this tragic event and our heart goes out to the family of our lost student." The district's crisis team was activated to provide counseling and emotional support services for those affected by the loss. Perez said "During my short time as Saranac's superintendent, I have learned that this is a very strong community that always comes out to support those in need. I am confident that this community will support each other and those in need during this very difficult time." "Please keep the family of this student in your thoughts as they continue to navigate through this incredibly difficult time."
