Ticonderoga community ready for 12th annual Small Business Saturday

TICONDEROGA | The Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) is encouraging its community to support Ticonderoga area businesses on Saturday, Nov. 27, for the 12th Annual Small Business Saturday. TACC continues to participate in this nationwide initiative as an approved Neighborhood Champion via American Express. TACC hopes to lend support and resources to area businesses as well as ensure the event has a significant economic impact on its members and the area. Small Business Saturday falls on Thanksgiving weekend, between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, when most holiday shopping begins. Small Business Saturday is the day everyone is encouraged to shop small. It's dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Created by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year, Small Business Saturday takes place Nov. 27. It's the local community organizers, the small business owners, and the customers who make Small Business Saturday the busiest shopping day of the year for small businesses, the heartbeat of a community. These corner stores, mom and pops, and neighborhood restaurants create jobs and drive the local economy; they make a neighborhood a community. "The chamber and area businesses have participated in this event over the last several years, which have been very successful in benefiting the local economy. We are hoping to make this year bigger and better," according to Matthew Courtright, TACC president, and CEO. "Your commitment to the community will shape our future. This day is also an occasion to recognize the importance of small businesses and their vital contributions to the economy, job creation, and local communities. Small Business Saturday is the perfect opportunity for community members to support Ticonderoga area businesses as well as to give small businesses an opportunity to take part in a nationwide effort." This movement, while focusing on only small businesses, correlates with the chamber's "Think Local" campaign, with the tagline "Think Local! Shop! Spend! Support! Your Community—Your Future." "The campaign encourages community members to spend their money locally in the Ticonderoga area," Courtright added.
