Healing Grace opens first location for healing and support

PLATTSBURGH | The Healing Grace: Center for Hope and Healing officially opened the doors of their first location Sept. 25-now providing on-site hope and healing for those struggling with infant and pregnancy loss. The Healing Grace Center is now open at 62 Brinkerhoff Street Suite 104. Executive Director and Founder Sarah Munn-Wojtaszek officially cut the ribbon of the new location during a grand opening event alongside her husband Keith Wojtaszek. Healing Grace is a grief and bereavement support organization focusing on the needs of families that have experienced infant and pregnancy loss. Services include peer support, Comfort Cubs, Angel Heartbeat Bears, a list of photographers available to photograph your baby's birth, Champ Comfort boxes, assistance with referrals to area counselors, educational programs and sources, trauma-sensitive yoga, and most of all love, empathy and connection. "This an exciting new beginning to bring support to families of infant and pregnancy loss. My mission in life and within this organization is to find the light in the darkness. To start the conversation of infant and pregnancy loss and break down the taboo nature of this unthinkable loss. When the leaves fall to the ground in the Fall they nourish the future vegetation. The loss of my daughter is giving life to me and this beautiful organization," Munn-Wojtaszek said. Local mother Tiffani Light was one of many local mothers and families who embraced the opening. "My husband and I lost our 9-month-old daughter Zoey in 2017, before Healing Grace was even created. We were lucky to have the support of wonderful family and friends, but there wasn't much guidance on how to navigate the beginning of our grief journey," Light said. "Though years later, I am so grateful for the safe space of understanding, friendship, and ultimately hope that Healing Grace has offered - because as anyone on this journey knows - it never ends."
