CVAC boys XC: Chiefs, Nighthawks earn trio of wins

PERU | The Peru varsity boys cross country team (13-0) scored a trio of wins in their Oct. 5 cross country meet at McComb State Park, with a 27-32 score over Lake Placid, 16-47 against AuSable Valley, and 15-50 against Moriah/Boquet Valley. The Blue Bombers (9-4) scored a pair of wins — 25-30 against M/BV and 17-40 over AVCS — while M/BV (6-7) scored a 20-36 win over the Patriots (1-12). Nik Recore of Peru led all runners to the line in a time of 18:28, with teammates Landon Pandoplh placing fifth (19:02), Owen Tedesco sixth (19:11), Elijah Lederman seventh (19:13), and Luke Moffett 10th (19:47). Lake Placid runners took the second through fourth place spots, led by Andrew Scanio (18:28), Max Flanigan (18:43), and Aidan Fay (18:54). Collin Francis (21:43) placed 19th for the Blue Bombers, while Will Hollander rounded out the scoring five with a 20th place finish (21:44). Jude Brearton led Moriah/Boquet Valley with a 12th place finish (20:56), with Sawyer VanBuren placing 15th (21:09), Gage Perry 16th (21:11), Brayden Peters 17th (21:17), and Sam Anderson 18th (21:15). Grant Weerts finished in eighth place for the Patriots (19:39), with Marcus Thomas in 21st (22:11), Thomas Sucharzewski 22nd (22:28), Anthony Semeraro 23rd (22:29), and Cameron Akey 32nd (25.38). Chiefs win three, Eagles two Saranac (7-6) edged out a pair of CVAC foes Oct. 5 at the Cadyville Recreation Park, scoring a 25-26 win over Northeastern Clinton and a 27-29 win over Beekmantown, while also scoring a 23-36 over Ticonderoga. Beekmantown (10-3) scored a 25-32 win over NCCS and a 23-32 win over the Sentinels, while the Cougars (4-9) defeated Ticonderoga (2-11), 25-30. While Thomas Gilbo placed second overall for the Cougars in 18:48, the Chiefs were able to get the next three runners across the line before another Cougar with Andrew Denial placing third (19:27), Noah Thayer fifth (19:40), and James Lynch seventh (20:05). Joe Johnson added an 11th place finish for the Chiefs. For the Cougars, Gabe Garrant added a ninth-place finish (20:15), with Fred Reed placing 12th (20:44). The Chiefs were also able to place ahead of the Eagles in each of the top four spots to build up a winning margin. Jonathan Slick placed fourth for the Eagles (19:32), with Devan Bibeau sixth (19:43), Bode Curilla 10th (20:23), Riley Loughan 13th (20:53), and Nathan Sand 14th (20:55). Odin Nelson placed 15th for the Eagles (21:15). Ticonderoga's Emery Tausinger won the individual title with a time of 18:26, with teammate Carter Perron placing eighth (20:02) as the lone Sentinel representative in the top 15. Red Storm win a pair Saranac Lake (11-1) scored wins of 17-44 over Plattsburgh High and 23-38 over Seton Catholic Oct. 5, with the Hornets (8-4) scoring a 25-36 win over the Knights (0-12). Sam Ash scored another individual title, as the Red Storm runner finished in 16:23. Aiden Hesseltine (18:18), Jake Kollmer (19:09), and Morgan Martin (19:27) placed fourth through sixth for the Red Storm, with Max Hall rounding out the scoring five in ninth place (20:10) and Sam Bickford (20:14) placing 10th. While Sam DeJordy (17:45) and Max Grafstein (18:15), placed second and third for the Knights, the Hornets placed the next four scoring runners as Sam Barney placed seventh (19:46), Bransen Fitzwater eighth (20:09), Jonathan Frakes 14th (20:33), and George Cornwright 15th (20:43).
