Town of Plattsburgh urges vigilance amid employee COVID-19 case

PLATTSBURGH | A deep cleaning of Town of Plattsburgh offices was underway Sept. 16 after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. Town of Plattsburgh Supervisor Michael Cashman thanked the staff member for coming forward as he encouraged all employees to communicate with direct supervisors if they feel sick or test positive as soon as possible. "Public safety and transparency remains paramount to our response. The employee was double vaccinated and shared they were glad to have been vaccinated," Cashman said as staff exposure notices were underway mid-afternoon. "Our top priority continues to be the public health and the safety of employees and the community at large. The Town of Plattsburgh is strictly following our COVID-19 Safety Plan. Even still the town is not immune." Cashman said it should serve as yet another "reminder of how we must all be vigilant. Working as a community to protect each other. I implore folks to follow the advice of our medical leaders to get vaccinated." Regardless of vaccination status, the Clinton County Health Department continues to recommend all residents wear masks indoors, avoid crowds and high-risk activities, wash hands frequently, and get vaccinated. The Plattsburgh Town Hall will remain open however the public is encouraged to use the town's drop box, to mail in items or use online services whenever possible. The town's reinstatement of indoor mask use remains in effect. On Sept. 16, the Health Department reported 26 new cases overnight, bringing the current active caseload to 193.
