Vergennes Opera House plans return season

VERGENNES | Officials of the Vergennes Opera House are fine-tuning the upcoming season as the popular entertainment venue returns after the pandemic. The Opera House's fundraising annual car rally also returns this year. Known as "The Vermont Magical Discovery Tour", also called "The Ladies' Rally" in past years, the event will be held Sunday, Sept. 19. "If you drive, or have a friend who likes to drive, we encourage you to get ready to spend a very special day with old friends and new acquaintances. Explore the beautiful and magical byways and hidden treasures along a specially curated route within our region," according to car rally organizers Susan Schaefer, Bev Biello, and Liz Markowski. "This year's event is dedicated to giving a lift to our favorite opera house, as well as to our spirits. Remember that anyone can drive, and any make and model of vehicle is welcome. It's all about having fun." Board members are lining up 2021-22 season sponsors with most performances supported by Bar Antidote and Hired Hand Brewery. Tickets are available now for almost all events listed to date. The 2021-22 season lineup announced so far: Sept. 19 - "Vermont Magical Discover Tour" car rally Oct. 9 - The Unknown Blues Band, with special guests. Oct. 29-30 - "Scarefest", three films over two days, with a dance party and costume contest. The event is produced by the Vergennes Recreation Department and the Vergennes Partnership to support the outdoor pavilion project. Nov. 6 - "Downtown Bob Stannard and Those Dangerous Bluesmen". This will be Stannard's career-finale show. Dec. 10 - "Broadway Direct" 16th-anniversary. Jan. 29, 2022 - Rusty DeWees comedian, musician, and storyteller Feb. 12, 2022 - "Winter Thaw" L.C.
