"Community Garden Mural" set to be next city Outdoor Art mural

PLATTSBURGH | Outside Art: Plattsburgh Public Art Project has announced their 15th mural, and the Plattsbirders are back! OA will be creating a fresh and colorful mural on the west-facing wall of 90 Bridge Street. Taking inspiration from the 2020 "Migrations Mural" painted by Gharan Burton, Amy Guglielmo, and the "Plattsbirders" (approximately 50 local artists). The "Community Garden" mural will involve multiple artists in the vivid composition. However, instead of birds, the "Community Garden" mural will feature a variety of flowers, vegetables, and fruits, in a luscious, colorful, and larger-than-life display, near the new location of the Plattsburgh Farmers and Crafters Market on Green Street. There will also be a few sneaky cats hiding in the garden for community members to find in honor of the Cat's Meow Thrift shop that operates in the building. OA will coordinate the project that will feature and support our skilled local lead artists: Robert "Guitsy" Wolf, Andrew McGill, Kristen Larkin, and Meredith Jacobs, along with the Plattsbirders. Individuals from the Autism Alliance of Northeastern NY will also be contributing to the mural project. Laura Carmichael, executive director of the Autism Alliance of Northeastern NY says, "We're so excited to partner with Outside Art on this project. Their beautiful work brings people together and adds a sense of charm to our little city." "We are always thrilled when we find a wall, funding, and artists to make the magic of public art happen. Like the "Migration Mural," this is a great way to include a range of artists from different backgrounds in our community," said Co-Director Amy Guglielmo. Fellow co-director Julia Devine says, "Outside Art is excited to see the Plattsbirders back in action and is grateful to receive grant funding provided by the Clinton County Health Department in partnership with the New York State Health Foundation."
