Softball all stars named

PLATTSBURGH | After getting back onto the field in 2021, the two leagues which make up Section VII softball have announced their all star teams for the spring season, as voted on by the coaches on the respective leagues. CVAC In the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference, Peru pitcher Emily Beattie was named the Outstanding Pitcher of the Year, while the Most Outstanding Player award went to Saranac's Payton Couture. Members of the all CVAC team also included Kiera Regan (Beekmantown), Bri Brousseau (Peru), Calli Fitzwater (PHS), Tori Wells (Saranac), Rhylee Poupore (NAC), Abby Peryea (NAC) and Anna Whitman (Ticonderoga). Players named as Division I all stars included Beattie, Brousseau, Couture, Regan, Fitzwater, Wells, Brooke Basmajian (NCCS), Amanda Vaughn (PHS) and Allison Garman (Saranac). The Division II all star team included Poupore, Peryea, Whitman, Shea Durgan (AVCS), Danaya Patterson (Lake Placid), Emily Gangi (Moriah), MacKenna LaBarge (NAC), Emily Meyer (Saranac Lake), and Karlie Goetz (Saranac Lake). Honorable mentions were given to Brooke Ruest (Beekmantown), Desiree Dubois (NCCS), Kayleigh Jackson (Peru), Alyssa Hemingway (PHS), Aislyn Liberty (Saranac), Sara Richards (AVCS), Darianna Patterson (Lake Placid), Gwen Eichen (Moriah), Emily VanValkenburg (NAC), Amaya Hurteau (Saranac Lake), and Kennedy Davis (Ticonderoga). Sam Campbell of Saranac was named the CVAC coach of the year, while the Ray Holmes sportsmanship award went to NCCS and Moriah. MVAC In the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference's northern division, pitchers Analise Burdo of Boquet Valley and Jane Trowbridge of Schroon Lake/Bolton were named Co-MVP's for the 2021 season. First team honorees included Abbey Schwoebel (BVCS), Brianna Cornwright (BVCS), Skylar Scott (SL/Bolton), Ila Hubert (SL/Bolton), Katana Coon (Chazy), Cate Langlois (Chazy), Kaitlin Ross (Crown Point), Makenna Munson (Crown Point), and Lexi Nolette (Willsboro). Honorable mention recipients included Abby Monty (BVCS), Scarlett Behm (BVCS), Alison Baker (SL/Bolton), Riley Smith (SL/Bolton), Olivia McLennan (Chazy), and Lauren Kimball (Crown Point). Schroon Lake/Bolton's Mel Persons and Boquet Valley's Jim Monty were named co-coaches of the year, with the sportsmanship award going to Chazy. In the MVAC southern division, Kate Wimberly of Johnsburg-Minerva was named the MVP, joining with first team members Jennie Allen (J-M), Phoebe Glover (J-M), Aileen Stevens (J-M), Sophia Johnson (Keene), Megan Quinn (Keene), Annalise Penrose (Indian Lake/Long Lake), Emily DeShaw (IL/LL), Alexis Brooks (Wells), and Layla Rust (Wells). Molly Deshetsky (J-M), Haylie Buysse (Keene), Alexis Jackson (IL/LL), Marilla Liddle (IL/LL), Olivia Zumpano (IL/LL), and Sarah Smith (Wells) were honorable mention recipients. Wells was named the sportsmanship award winner.
