Lake George Community Garage Sale upcoming

LAKE GEORGE | Area residents and visitors will soon be enjoying browsing for intriguing household goods as local homeowners and renters practice environmental responsibility by participating in the town and village of Lake George's annual Community Garage Sale set to occur Saturday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2. Registration for the town-wide sale, through which local residents can have their sale location designated on a published map, is now open and will be concluding April 28. Local residents may register for a donation of $10 and all proceeds will go towards improvements at the Lake George Dog Park. Registration can be accomplished at the Lake George Village Hall. The sale maps will be distributed to people registering and as well as for public distribution at the lake George United Methodist Church, Fort William Henry, the Shady Business retail store on Canada Street, and various local municipal buildings. Plans also call for the sale map to be posted online. The event traditionally features a Lake George Village sidewalk sale, with merchants along Canada Street displaying items outside their stores. The sale annually attracts people from across the Capital Region. Aspects of the town-wide garage sale are to continue the following week. From Monday, May 3, through Friday, May 7, during "Free to All" week, town and village residents are encouraged to leave household goods and items that are in good shape but no longer wanted at their curbs for others to pick up and reuse. After May 7, the Methodist Church will be accepting household items, tools, clothes, shoes, accessories, bedding and stuffed animals in good shape, and these items can be to the town government's "Free Store" located at the Lake George Town transfer station. "There are so many items that people throw out that are of value to others," sale organizer Carol Lee LaBruzzo said. "People could put to good use things that you don't need anymore."
