Pair arrested in brutal Chesterfield home invasion

CHESTERFIELD | Two men are now facing dozens of charges in connection with a violent home invasion that left a local grandfather viciously beaten and the community searching for answers. As New York State Police launched an intense investigation into the mid-November late-night robbery, George Bailey's family asked supporters for privacy as he and his wife recovered from the attack. Loved ones of the longtime local resident were left devastated just one week later when the family patriarch unexpectedly passed away. Police and family pleaded for information in the case and on March 18 two arrests were made on an indictment handed up in Essex County Court. Antonio Provost, 22, of Willsboro and Ethan Bonville, 24, of Morrisonville are now behind bars facing twenty high-level charges each, including top charges of first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. Both were arraigned and are now being held in Essex County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bond or $300,000 partially secured bond. An order of protection has been issued. The arrests stem from ongoing investigations by the New York State Police, Essex County Sheriff's Office, Clinton County Sheriff's Office, City of Plattsburgh Police Department, Clinton County District Attorney's Office, and the Essex County District Attorney's Office. No further details about the arrests were immediately available Thursday night. Authorities have said the assault happened Nov. 15, just before midnight, when Provost and Bonville allegedly stormed into Bailey's home, assaulted and restrained the elderly homeowners and robbed them of personal belongings before they fled into the night. It was initially unclear when the pair would reappear in court.
