Florist lets new roots grow at Plattsburgh location

PLATTSBURGH | The Keeseville native flower farm and florist, Mossbrook Roots recently opened up a new location in Plattsburgh. Located at 175 Boynton Ave., Mossbrook Roots provides a welcoming atmosphere for all who visit. Mossbrook Roots first opened as a flower farm four years ago and went on to have a full-time florist at their Keeseville location in January 2020. The expansion happened for a few reasons. "We wanted to be able to reach more customers," Jackie Wheelin, the owner of Mossbrook Roots, explained. "Plattsburgh has had a little bit of a change as far as the floral aspect there. I think a lot of it was having to do with COVID as well. Several florists have closed in the past year or two, and there was definitely a need to expand our services," said Jenn Dorr, the Floral Manager of both the Keeseville and Plattsburgh locations. The Plattsburgh location was used as a pickup location for Valentine's Day orders and fully opened its doors on March 13. "Jackie and I wanted a space that was very welcoming. That looked different than anything else that we thought was available locally. We wanted a place where our customers would feel happy and inspired. A place where our flowers would stand out," Dorr stated. With an earth tone color palette, Dorr feels the store accomplishes just that, providing a cozy feeling to those that enter. Mossbrook Roots offers more than just a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. With a large assortment of products from jewelry to decorative signs, shoppers are sure to find a nature-themed product that speaks to them. Plants and flowers can also be found at Mossbrook Roots. From every day to custom arrangements, the florists are there to create floral arrangements for any event. Seeds for their organic farm flowers, which will be highlighted at the store, were planted the week of March 15. "It is really nice to be able to have fresh flowers at our fingertips, right outside of our door to use, and that's really what we're most proud of," Dorr explained. Expansion didn't just happen with the store, the farm expanded too. With a newly increased flower field, it shows just how much Mossbrook Roots is growing. They're also hoping to start hosting workshops both at the farm and the Plattsburgh location Door said, "... floral workshops and various wreath workshops, things like that throughout the year here and at the farm." With a style that highlights the area we live in. Mossbrook Roots tries to think outside the box when it comes to floral design. "We try to set ourselves apart," said Dorr. "We are proud of what we do. We're passionate about what we do, and we want that to translate to our customers," Dorr stated. The store is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all who wish to shop in person.
