Cl. Co. residents asked to help contact tracing efforts

PLATTSBURGH | With nearly 50 new COVID-19 cases overnight contributing to record levels of possible exposure, Clinton County Health Department officials are asking the public to help with their ongoing contact tracing efforts. As of Dec. 29, there were 242 active cases of COVID-19 in Clinton County with roughly 557 residents under quarantine as close contacts of the positive cases. But with nearly 150 new cases in the last five days, health officials are now working to manage record levels of contact tracing and now hope the public will help those efforts in the interim. With added staff and help from the state contact-tracing system, Health Departments officials are working to manage the heightened number of cases, but are asking residents to self-quarantine and take proactive measures while waiting for official contact tracing efforts to begin. "With the significant uptick in cases we are seeing in the community, we ask you to be patient with the contact tracing process. If you receive a positive COVID-19 test result, please isolate in a separate room from your household members and wait for a call from CCHD," officials urged in their Dec. 29 update. "If you know you have had contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 please quarantine at home. Limit contact with your household members and remain on your property. If you have been tested and are awaiting results, please stay home and quarantine." As of Dec. 27, the Clinton County seven-day rolling average of positive cases stood at 5.6 percent.
