New buildings at Air Industrial Park

PLATTSBURGH | New business and job creation are the goals behind The Development Corporation (TDC)'s new 60,000 sq. ft. industrial space and increased administrative office capacity at the former Clinton County Airport site. A tenant, or multiple, could move in as early as 2021. Construction on the site has already begun, according to a recent press release from TDC, which counts a total of 17 industrial buildings on its roster, reporting what it says is an occupancy rate near 100%. The corporation is a private not-for-profit that owns and manages much of Clinton County's industrial real estate. It oversees buildings, like Norsk Titanium and Monaghan Medical. "There has been a steady increase in demand for space both with our current tenants and companies who are new to the region," said TDC President and CEO David Champagne. The building design was handled by engineering and surveying firm Robert M. Sutherland, P.C. (RMS), while Luck Builders are responsible for construction; both companies are local. HUB OF MANUFACTURING GROWTH This particular site is intended to be a hub of manufacturing growth in the North Country, supported by a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The new building includes both dock and drive-in doors, as well as 26-ft. ceilings. The county and Town of Plattsburgh also support the site's goals for job creation and retention, as does the North Country Chamber of Commerce. Clinton County Legislature Chairperson Mark Henry said, "This is exactly the type of growth all parties envisioned when the county partnered with TDC and the Town of Plattsburgh to improve the infrastructure at the former airport." Garry Douglas, president and CEO of the North Country Chamber of Commerce, said the project "shows justified confidence in the future along with a commitment to continue the historic redevelopment of the old airport site".
