The Tiny Theatre presented Dr. Fred Michel's photography

POULTNEY - The Tiny Theatre recently presented the photography of Dr. Fred Michel. Despite the stormy night, the turnout for this event was tremendous. Dr. Paul Hancock, Tiny Theatre board member and GMC economics professor, had approached Michel about sharing his pictures on the big screen. He envisioned such a public response since it was a show not to be missed. The evening showcased over 100 photos featuring landscapes and some animals from England, Spain, France, Maine, Vermont, New York, Utah, Hawaii, and various locals in California. The array of brilliant, vivid colors had attendees escaping Poultney into any one of Michel's mesmerizing photos. Some of his work was quite surreal, and one could easily drift to another dimension. Michel was available for conversation before, during, and after the show. Jesse Gelinas played string instruments, and there was nature poetry consistent with the viewing of the landscapes and animals. How did Poultney's local dentist get involved with photography? "I started young and have been taking pictures for over 50 years," said Michel. "In college, I got very serious with photojournalism and simply loved it!" As any serious photographer, Michel sat for hours waiting for the right lighting to capture scenes in deserts, canyons, fields, and on mountaintops. One thing that Michel is very proud of is that he is a traditionalist, and his photos are not digitally manipulated. In the past, Michel had shown his work at the Chaffee Center and Feick Gallery.
