Lake Placid Inistitute announces youth poetry program winners

The Lake Placid Institute has announced the winners in the annual Young People's Poetry Program. "This was a banner year for the program, 'Words from the Woods,' with hundreds of poems submitted," LPI Director Janice Thomas said. "The 48 poems selected for special merit were chosen by Dr. Sarah Barber, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Poetry at St. Lawrence University." There will be an award ceremony for the selected poets at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts on Saturday, May 12, at 3 p.m. Admission is free. "Words from the Woods," is made possible with a lead grant from the Verizon Foundation and NBT Bank.
