Bolton this weekend: arts & crafts show, loads of yard sales, chili fest too

Bolton is undoubtedly the place to be this Columbus Day weekend, as there is an extensive lineup of activities planned. Topping the list is the ever-popular Bolton Arts & Crafts Festival, featuring some of the most skilled area artisans and their crafts, set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday in Rogers Park. This show and sale of is organized by Gail Street and benefits the Bolton Landing Rescue Squad. This year's craft fest offers a new feature that's bound to be fun — and tanalizing! The Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Bolton's Best Chili Cook-Off, to be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. Attendees get to pick which chili is their favorite by voting with tasting coupons. They can be purchased at the Bolton Town Hall mid-town, or at the Bolton Chamber of Commerce's headquarters, the familiar log cabin at the north end of Rogers Park. Prizes will be awarded, but the contest is really about the bragging rights. Last but not least, this weekend brings us Bolton's annual Town-Wide Garage Sale, set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday Oct. 12 and Sunday Oct. 13. Maps directing people to the sale sites will be available at the Chamber of Commerce office. This is a prime opportunity to find some quality treasures, whether it's furniture, household goods, antiques, fine clothing, and perhaps some art. Bolton's yard sales offer good fins, considering that so many fine estates are located in this area. We at Denton Publications hope you enjoy your visit to Bolton! 'Haunted Trail' at Up Yonda next weekend Friday Oct. 18 and Saturday Oct. 19, Up Yonda Farm is hosting a night of thrills and chills as guests venture through the woods where monsters of the night will be waiting. Included this year is a "No Scare Area" for younger children featuring games, crafts and an inflatable haunted house. The Haunted Trail also includes spooky stories by the campfire and free refreshments. The event will be held rain or shine. From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday Oct. 19, there will be a non-scary trick-or-treat trail. Admission is $8 per person, $5 for Bolton residents and Up Yonda members. Children under 4 are free.
