Parks Come Alive! Event at South Acres Park to celebrate new playground

PLATTSBURGH | The Parks Come Alive Event series will host its final event of the season on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at South Acres Park, with family friendly activities, local food, live music, and more. As a special feature of this event, the City of Plattsburgh will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. to celebrate the completion of new playground equipment and construction upgrades at the park. Media are encouraged to attend. Since its launch in 2022, the Parks Come Alive! series has become a favorite among Plattsburgh residents, showcasing the city's local parks and bringing together the community with food, drinks, music, and activities. The evening will bring together more than 30 community organizations along with activities, a live performance by the band "Quasimojo," a Rhythm & Blues band based in Plattsburgh, food, a 3v3 basketball tournament, free face painting, caricatures, a photo booth, and more. "The new playground at South Acres Park is another important step in our continued investment in Plattsburgh's parks and recreational spaces. These improvements are about more than replacing aging equipment, they are about creating places where kids can play, families can spend time together, and neighborhoods can connect. We're excited to see this project completed and to continue building on the momentum of the Parks Renewal Master Plan throughout the City" says Andrew Durrin, Director of Community Development. This event, generously supported by Champlain Valley Family Center and other community partners, will also include a limited number of $5 food vouchers that can be redeemed at participating food vendors.
