Clinton Co. woman sentenced for repeated drug trafficking

PLATTSBURGH | Taking a tough stance on local drug crimes, Clinton County prosecutors pushed for a harsh sentence in a significant local crack cocaine case for the dangers it posed to one neighborhood and the community as a whole. Clinton County District Attorney Andrew J. Wylie announced that Shelby Patrie was sentenced to 11 to 13 years in state prison for her involvement in narcotics trafficking in the county from May 2025 through February 2026. Patrie was originally arrested on May 21, 2025, after members of the New York State Police and the Adirondack Drug Task Force seized a large quantity of crack cocaine, worth tens of thousands of dollars on the street, from her vehicle. She was later indicted in August 2025 and charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for possessing eight ounces or more of narcotics. Patrie was released on bail while that case was pending. While out on bail, Patrie continued to engage in narcotics trafficking, and her residence on Pristine Drive became a hub for drug activity in the months that followed. On Feb. 11, 2026, Patrie was re-arrested on a separate matter and charged with conspiracy to possess four ounces or more of cocaine. She later pleaded guilty in both cases and has been incarcerated since April. At sentencing, Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Kehm, who prosecuted both cases, argued that a significant prison term was justified despite Patrie's limited criminal history, citing the substantial quantities of cocaine involved, her continued trafficking while facing an existing felony case, and her repeated attempts to minimize her role despite her guilty pleas. ADA Kehm emphasized the harm Patrie's conduct caused to her neighbors and the danger she inflicted upon the broader community. Judge William Favreau ultimately sentenced Patrie to 11 to 13 years in prison and imposed fines totaling $15,000. District Attorney Wylie said, "Shelby Patrie's sentencing reflects the serious consequences of her continued involvement in narcotics trafficking, even while facing existing charges, and the danger her actions brought to her neighborhood and this community. We are committed to holding individuals accountable when they endanger the safety of our community."
