Unique retail store to open in Bolton Landing

BOLTON LANDING | On Friday, Sept. 4, Basecamp will officially open its doors at 4950 Lake Shore Drive in Bolton Landing, bringing a new retail and community experience to the heart of the Lake George region. Created by John Lasalandra and Joe Russell, Basecamp began with a simple idea: rather than watch another storefront sit empty, create something that celebrates Lake George and the Adirondacks while bringing people together around creativity, conservation, community and kindness. Joseph Blizzard will serve as store manager, helping oversee the day-to-day store experience. FOUR BRANDS, ONE HOME Basecamp brings together four Adirondack-inspired brands under one roof: Basecamp, RELAX, Bolton Bigfoot and Greetings from Lake George. Together, they create a store designed to feel less like traditional retail and more like a love letter to Lake George. Basecamp celebrates getting outside and slowing down. RELAX is a reminder to breathe and enjoy where you are. Bolton Bigfoot embraces Adirondack folklore and fun. Greetings from Lake George celebrates the people, places, stories and unmistakable magic of life around the lake. SMALL THINGS, BIG WAVES Throughout the year, products and experiences inside Basecamp will help support organizations working to protect Lake George and preserve the Adirondacks. Select green products will generate a $1 donation for every item sold, benefiting local conservation and nonprofit efforts. The idea is simple: shop small, do something big. Buy a shirt. Help protect a trail. Pick up a hat. Give something back to the lake. Some of the most meaningful things inside the store will not have a price tag. Guests will discover messages of kindness, love and encouragement tucked into unexpected places throughout the Basecamp experience, including messages incorporated into apparel and merchandise. Visitors will also be invited to choose a Greetings from Lake George postcard, write someone a note and mail it directly from the store. Basecamp provides the postcard and postage. No purchase is necessary. LOCAL ART, BIGFOOT AND THE SCENT OF THE LAKE Beginning in September, Basecamp plans to launch Calling All Artists, a community art project inviting local artists to create interpretations of the legendary Bolton Bigfoot. The works are planned for display around Bolton Landing before being auctioned to benefit local nonprofit and conservation initiatives. The Bolton Bigfoot Experience will also make Basecamp's resident Sasquatch available for community events, charitable gatherings and local fundraisers. Basecamp is also introducing a Lake George home fragrance collection inspired by islands and places around the lake - from pine warmed by the afternoon sun and cedar docks to campfire smoke and clean lake air. "We started with a simple thought: this space shouldn't sit empty. But the more we talked about it, the idea became bigger than filling a storefront. We wanted to create a place that could be fun, beautiful and unexpected while also doing some good," said John Lasalandra and Joe Russell There will be apparel, gifts, fragrance, art, postcards and Bigfoot. But the larger ambition is to create a place that makes people feel something - a place that celebrates where it lives and encourages people to get outside, slow down, laugh a little more, send somebody a note, support a local artist and protect the place they love.
