Marianne Baker

JAMESTOWN, N.C. | Marianne Baker, 76, of Jamestown, N.C., passed away on Aug. 24, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born July 11, 1950, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the daughter of John and Anna (Nels) Wojewodzic. Heaven just got a little rowdier, and a lot more Polish! If you knew Marianne, you knew her smile was infectious, her laughter was what kept her moving forward. She would always say, "No matter how bad any day gets, you gotta find one thing to laugh about!!" Her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many people whose lives were touched by her love, kindness, and unforgettable spirit. Marianne is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Gordon F. Baker, and her three children: Gordon John Baker (Amy), Gregg Michael Baker, and Andrea Joanne Richardson (Brian). She will forever be cherished and remembered by her beloved grandchildren, including Austin, Brett (Ashlynn), Riley, and Alexa, who brought tremendous joy and pride to her life. Marianne's memory also lives on through her brother, John "Jojohn" Wojewodzic, and her sister, Joanne Petro, as well as several loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Marianne had a special way of making people feel like family, and her family extended far beyond those related by blood. Her cherished "bonus kids" include Sarah Jackson, Susan McBride, Heather Lawton, Nikki and Michael Morgan, Adam McNamara, Shannon Brice, Fred Dudley, Andrea Toro, and Ashley Freeman. She was also blessed with treasured friendships that became family, including her dear friends Robin Cornelison, Kathy Albert, Donna and Wayne Southard, and Michele and Jeff Clouse. Their friendship, love, laughter, and memories shared with Marianne will forever hold a special place in her story. Marianne was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John "Buckshot" and Anna Wojewodzic; her brother-in-law, James Petro; as well as her irreplaceable cousin, Stephanie Hanchett. Though Marianne's passing leaves an emptiness that can never truly be filled, the love she gave, the family she built, the friendships she treasured, and the memories she created will continue to live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved her. Calling hours were held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial followed at 12 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry, with burial following in the parish cemetery. All were welcomed to attend a celebration of Marianne's life that followed burial at the Old Miner's Tavern in Moriah.
