Run For Jon returns to Forrence Orchards Aug. 29

PERU | The 36th annual Run For Jon will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 5 p.m. at Forrence Orchards on Mannix Road in Peru. Each year it attracts hundreds of walkers, runners and kids' fun runners who are joined by friends and family spectators. There are numerous door prizes for participants thanks to generous donors. It began in 1991 to help the family of Jonathan Evans of Peru with the financial demands of his cancer treatment. The course runs through 2.5 miles of beautiful rolling Forrence Orchards in Peru. It is also a great race, sanctioned by USA Track & Field, with some of the best runners in the Northeast participating. Over the years, the race has attracted state and national champions as well as a few Olympians. SCHEDULE Race Day Registration 3:30 - 4:45 p.m. Walk/Run start at 5 p.m. 5 p.m.: 0.5-mile Kids' Fun Run 5:20 p.m.: 2.5-mile Cross-country Run and 1.25-mile non-competitive Walk Walk and Run will start at the same time, but have different finish lines.
