Plattsburgh Pulse launches small business driver Plattsburgh Passports

PLATTSBURGH | Plattsburgh Pulse, presented by Unitary America, has formally announced the launch of the first-ever Plattsburgh Passport. The Passport is a new community initiative designed to encourage residents and visitors to discover, support, and experience businesses throughout Plattsburgh. "Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy in Plattsburgh, and measures like this help drive that foot traffic and encourage people of all ages to get involved in their community," said Garrett Monette, founder of Unitary America. Starting Aug. 1, participants can pick up Plattsburgh Passports at El Dorado in Plattsburgh or download them from the Passport website before exploring participating local businesses and collecting passport stamps along the way. This initiative is designed to strengthen connections between small businesses and the community by encouraging spending at local, Plattsburgh-based stores. Completed passports can be submitted for a chance to win the $1,000 Plattsburgh Passport Giveaway, with the winner announced during the Fourth Friday Inaugural Event on Aug. 28 at the Durkee Street Market in Plattsburgh. The Plattsburgh Passport is one of several community-focused initiatives being introduced through Plattsburgh Pulse, a platform dedicated to making it easier to discover local events, businesses, artists, and organizations like Unitary America, while encouraging greater community engagement. Unitary America is a community-based organization in Plattsburgh dedicated to meeting immediate needs through mutual aid while advocating for long-lasting change. Monette added that Unitary America has always been designed to help communities and build stronger, lasting community bonds. "Initiatives like the Plattsburgh Passport and Plattsburgh Pulse help build and preserve that sense of community. We are trying to rebuild community, and rebuild civic engagement that has, unfortunately, been on the decline."
