33rd annual Ticonderoga Area Car Show returns to Bicentennial Park

TICONDEROGA | The 33rd annual Ticonderoga Area Car Show will return to Percy Thompson Bicentennial Park on Sunday, Aug. 2. Coordinated and sponsored by the Adirondack Trail Riders, the event has become a summer staple and is a testament to Americans' love of automobiles. Meticulously restored labors of love will be on display, with their owners on hand to chat with enthusiasts. "The Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) is incredibly thankful for the continued dedication of the Adirondack Trail Riders in making the annual Car Show a success year after year," noted TACC President & CEO Matt Courtright. "Events like this draw visitors to Ticonderoga and play an important role in our community's economy, helping strengthen our reputation as a destination to visit. What many people don't see are the countless hours of planning, preparation, and hard work that happen behind the scenes to make an event of this scale possible." From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., vintage vehicles from numerous decades will be shined up and ready to be admired- classics, muscle cars, trucks, imports, tuners, motorcycles, even works-in-progress. "I grew up in the sixties and had muscle cars and always enjoyed them," noted Ti resident Ron Cossey, who will be entering his 2007 red Corvette convertible (430 hp). "I sold a couple of them and always regretted doing that. When I retired I decided to get a hot car. Some of my friends talked me into going to car shows. Now there's a group of us that all goes together. It's fun going with the group and meeting new people." Admission is free. As a judged show, an array of awards will be given out. The day will also include a 50/50 raffle, music and a live DJ, a Hula hoop contest, the famous Kiwanis Duck Drop, muffler wrap, piston toss, and an awards ceremony. Entrants are encouraged to decorate their tents in patriotic red, white, and blue colors to celebrate America's 250th anniversary.
