NYC men convicted of trafficking nearly a kilo of crack cocaine locally

PLATTSBURGH | Clinton County District Attorney Andrew J. Wylie has announced the conviction of two men arrested for trafficking nearly one kilogram of crack cocaine, with an estimated street value between $40,000 and $50,000, from New York City to Clinton County. Lakiem Williams, 40, and Antoine Shelborne, 38, both from Queens County, were arrested Nov. 19 following a surveillance operation. Law enforcement officers stopped the vehicle in which Williams and Shelborne were passengers on Broad Street in the City of Plattsburgh, where members of the Adirondack Drug Task Force discovered the narcotics inside a backpack the pair had been observed carrying before the stop. Williams appeared in Clinton County Court on June 5 and pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is expected to receive a 10-year prison sentence when he returns to court Aug. 11. Shelborne appeared in Clinton County Court on June 12 and also pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and is expected to receive an eight-year sentence when he reappears in the local court Aug. 18. The investigation was led by the City of Plattsburgh Police Department's Narcotics Enforcement Unit, with assistance from other member agencies of the Adirondack Drug Task Force. Clinton County Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Kehm prosecuted the cases. District Attorney Andrew J. Wylie said, "A great deal of credit goes to our State and Federal partners in the Adirondack Drug Task Force for their tireless work in ensuring these drugs never reach our streets. Holding individuals such as Williams and Shelborne accountable will always remain a top priority for my office."
