Adk. League softball All-Stars announced

WASHINGTON COUNTY | Adirondack League softball All-Stars for 2026 were announced June 13, a day after Fort Ann's season ended in a 1-0 loss in a state Class D tournament semifinal game. Fort Ann defeated Argyle 2-1 in the Section II championship game; however, Argyle had beaten Fort Ann May 1 by for the Adirondack League championship, so both of these teams are prominent in the league All-Star selections made by the coaches of all the league's teams. Argyle senior Grace Depew was named the league's 2026 Most Valuable Player. She led her team in their unbeaten league season, which culminated in winning the league championship. Early in the season, Depew pitched six consecutive no-hitters. This year, Depew surpassed 400 career strikeouts. Also a formidable force on offense, she batted .650 for the 2026 season, and has surpassed 100 career hits. Athletes from Warren County awarded All-Star status were Warrensburg freshman centerfielder Ava Costigliola, and two athletes from Lake George: senior shortstop Mollie Johnson and junior third-baseman McKenna Bennett. Johnson was named to the first team, and the other two were chosen for the second team. Costigliola is a team captain and the Burghers' lead-off hitter. This season, she achieved a .471 batting average and a .538 on-base average, while compiling 32 hits, including five doubles and a home run. "Ava is a great kid, a great leader, and her love for the game is infectious," Burghers coach Teresa Colvin said June 13. Lakers coach Kim Zilm has praised both Mollie Johnson and McKenna Bennett for their athleticism and baseball acumen. Bennett has traditionally held high earned run averages and been a solid backup pitcher, while Johnson has tallied 99 career hits and has led the team in slugging and on-base percentage. Argyle players named league All-Stars in addition to Depew are catcher/shortstop Ava Cormie on the league's first team and catcher Riley Kober on the second team. Fort Ann is represented on the Adirondack League All-Star first team by pitcher Jadyn Mitchell, catcher Hailey Lashinsky, and third baseman Cambria Londrigan; and on the second team, by first baseman Baylee Wright. Others named to the All-Star first team were Lily Olsen and Caroline Baker of Granville, Renee Cary of Salem, Bradie Tyler of Fort Edward, Khloe Paddock of Whitehall, and Silver Stewart of Hartford. Additional athletes named to the second team were Ella Olsen and Elsie Ellis of Granville, Mia Waters and Marcee Bessette of Whitehall, Riley Gallagher of Salem, and Makenna Eastman and Piper Houser of Corinth.
