Olympic Center to host 69th Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships June 25-27

LAKE PLACID | The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority, in collaboration with the Skating Club of Lake Placid and sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating, will host the 69th Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships June 25-27 at the Olympic Center. Held at the historic Olympic Center, site of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games, the championships continue one of the nation's longest-running summer figure skating traditions. The non-qualifying competition features singles and pairs events across all levels, from beginner through senior, and serves as the opening event in Lake Placid's summer skating season. Featured athletes include Skylar Lautowa-Peguero (junior women), the 2025 U.S. junior silver medalist and international competitor; Deborah Liu (junior women), an international competitor; Henry Gao (junior men), an international competitor; Hitonari Tani (junior men), an international competitor; Reese Rose (senior women), an international competitor; Will Annis (senior men), an international competitor; and David Bondar (senior men), a junior world competitor. More than 250 athletes from the Northeast and Canada are expected to compete. The event, first held in 1957, is one of the nation's longest-running summer figure skating competitions. The competition is open to the public. Tickets start at $8 for a one-day pass and $18 for a full-event pass. Spectators will be able to watch athletes perform in one of North America's most iconic winter sports venues. The event kicks off a summer-long series of skating programs at the Olympic Center. Throughout the season, Lake Placid hosts athletes of all ages and skill levels for training, competition and performance opportunities. Upcoming programs and events include Friday Night Ice Shows from July 3 through Aug. 21; group ice skating lessons and World Skating Academy classes; summer skating training sessions; the Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships & International, July 26-30; Adult Skating Week, Aug. 16-22; indoor public skating at the 1932 Rink from June 30 through Sept. 5 (Tuesday through Sunday, 6:30 p.m.); and inline skating on the Oval from June 30 through Sept. 5 (Tuesday through Sunday, 7 p.m.).
