Top seeds move on from Class D baseball quarterfinals

PLATTSBURGH | The top-four seeds advanced from the Section VII Class D baseball quarterfinals May 21. The semifinals are scheduled for May 26. Chazy will travel to top-seeded Johnsburg/Minerva, and third-seeded Schroon Lake will play at second-seeded Bolton. JOHNSBURG/MINERVA 27, BOQUET VALLEY 0 NORTH CREEK | Johnsburg/Minerva (17-1) rolled to a shutout win over eighth-seeded Boquet Valley behind a combined no-hitter. Cole Millington, Nicholas Sauer-Jones, Jeremiah Freebern and Rowan Olesheski combined on a seven-inning no-hitter, striking out 19 and walking two. Sauer-Jones went 5 for 5 with four RBIs and four runs scored to lead Johnsburg/Minerva. Olesheski was 3 for 5 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Aaden Sauer-Jones was a home run away from the cycle, going 3 for 6 with four runs scored and three RBIs. BOLTON 18, INDIAN LAKE/LONG LAKE 1 BOLTON LANDING | Bolton (13-3) finished with 18 hits. Jace Hubert totaled five hits with two doubles and a triple, while Andy Morehouse had three hits. Jaxon Egloff, Will Hens, Jacob French and Abram Figueroa each had two hits. Liam Foy and John Roemer each added a hit, with Foy adding a triple. Hubert earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing two hits and one run, with no walks and seven strikeouts. Roemer pitched three innings of hitless relief with nine strikeouts. Seventh-seeded Indian Lake/Long Lake was limited to two hits from Charlie Seaman and Michael Lamphear. Griffin Farr took the loss, pitching three innings and allowing eight hits and eight runs, five earned, with two walks and four strikeouts. Joe Boya pitched two innings, allowing six hits and five runs, with one walk and three strikeouts. Lamphear pitched one inning in relief. SCHROON LAKE 14, CROWN POINT 3 SCHROON LAKE | Schroon Lake (12-6) advanced behind a 14-hit performance. Julian Porcaro recorded three hits with a double and home run, and Peyton Phillips also added three hits with a double. Jayce Emmert, Daniel Pelkey, Carson Witherell and Logan Phillips each had two hits. Lucas LaPerle earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing four hits and two runs, both earned, with seven walks and six strikeouts. Pelkey pitched two innings in relief. Sixth-seeded Crown Point was led by Kaden Hurlburt with two hits. Eli Meachem and Brady Pelkey each added a hit. Owen Carey took the loss, pitching three innings and allowing eight hits and eight runs, six earned, with five strikeouts. Hurlburt pitched three innings in relief. CHAZY 13, LAKE PLACID 9 CHAZY | Chazy (10-8) used a six-run first inning and a four-run fourth to hold off Lake Placid. Landon Duprey registered three hits with a home run to lead Chazy. Griffin Durocher and Zeke McLennan each had two hits. Oliver Ringer added a hit. Aiden Howell earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing seven hits and nine runs, seven earned, with four walks and seven strikeouts. Duprey pitched three innings of relief, allowing one hit with six strikeouts. Fifth-seeded Lake Placid was led by Owen Lawrence, who was a single shy of hitting for the cycle, accounting for a double, triple and home run. Zack Kissel added two hits, while Braeden Foley, Chase Flyte and Sean McCauley each had a hit. Foley tripled. McCauley took the loss, pitching five innings and allowing seven hits and 11 runs, nine earned, with seven walks and four strikeouts. Flyte pitched one inning in relief.
