New visitor information and business center opens in Ausable

AU SABLE FORKS | The Au Sable River Valley Business Association has officially opened its visitor information and business center in the hamlet of Au Sable Forks. Located on the ground floor of the Tahawus Cultural Center, the center celebrated a ribbon-cutting on May 21 to mark the milestone. The center will be staffed four days a week and is designed to support local businesses and encourage travelers to the Adirondacks to stop in Au Sable Forks. A business/visitor center was identified as a priority by ARVBA's strategic planning process. The center is funded by ARVBA, along with support from the Town of Jay's occupancy-tax fund and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST). "From my perspective, the visitors center will liven up Main Street by bringing a vacant storefront to life, where we can help promote our region and area activities, along with our businesses," ARVBA President Knut Sauer said. The visitor center employees will manage ARVBA's day-to-day operations, focusing on growing membership, managing events, and supporting the association's members. In the future, ARVBA plans to offer local artisans and farmers an opportunity to sell their products on a consignment basis in the center.
