Ti's theater program makes history

TICONDEROGA | Ticonderoga Central School District's theater program continues to make history. Three students- Treyce Elethorp, Henry Mack, and Carter Mack- were all nominated for the High School Musical Theatre Awards at Proctors after their performances in Sentinel Productions' Little Shop of Horrors. Supporters say the recognition was an extraordinary accomplishment considering they were selected from hundreds of students across the Capital Region and beyond, many representing schools several times the size of Ti. Treyce and Henry were both nominated for Outstanding Supporting Performer, while Carter earned a nomination for Outstanding Lead Performer. After a week of rehearsals with fellow nominees from across the region, the students performed on the Proctors' stage in Schenectady in mid-May. Carter advanced even further after callback auditions three weeks earlier, earning a place in the Outstanding Lead Medley in addition to performing alongside Treyce and Henry in the Opening and Closing Numbers. In an incredible moment for Ticonderoga, Henry Mack was named the winner of Outstanding Supporting Performer. Their recognition is especially remarkable given how young Ticonderoga's current musical theater program is. Under the leadership and dedication of Kyle Lang and Michael Iturrino, this was only the second full musical production Ti has staged in roughly 40 years, with last year marking the program's return. "To already be receiving recognition from Proctors — one of the region's premier performing arts organizations — speaks volumes about the talent, commitment, and vision behind the program. What Kyle and Michael have built in such a short time has created opportunities for students to compete and succeed on one of the largest stages in the region, and this year's nominations and award are proof that Ticonderoga's performing arts program is rapidly becoming something special," said We Are Instrumental Founder and theater supporter Dr. Evan Mack.
