Lake George splits week's games

LAKE GEORGE | Encountering formidable challenges this last week, the Lake George baseball team lost to Salem-Cambridge 12-3 on May 4, defeated Corinth 3-1 on May 8, and then a day later lost to Granville 13-7. In the Lakers' first game of the week, Salem-Cambridge scored one run in both the first and fourth innings before they added five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to establish their wide margin. Salem-Cambridge's starting pitcher James Beagle struck out nine batters and walked three, allowing only four hits over four and two-thirds innings. Relieving Beagle, Cooper Petell struck out three batters and walked one while allowing two hits and zero runs. Chase Baylor provided three hits, three RBIs and three runs for S-C, and teammate Sawyer Saddlemire had three hits, two runs and one RBI. Both Baylor and Saddlemire hit a double, and their team collectively stole 10 bases. For Lake George, senior Brayden Collier-Fisher hurled 86 pitches — 53 of them strikes — over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three batters while walking two, but allowing 11 hits and seven runs. In relief, junior Aidan Cardinale struck out one batter and walked five while allowing four hits and five runs over two and one-third innings. Senior Cody LeBarron tallied three hits and one RBI, while sophomore Landon Holderman contributed two hits, one RBI, and one run. Senior Wyatt Meyer tallied two hits, an RBI, and one run. LAKE GEORGE 3, CORINTH 1 In a defensive battle, Lake George prevailed over rival Corinth 3-1 on May 8. Collier-Fisher threw 100 pitches, including 67 in the strike zone over the entire game, striking out 12 batters and walking one while allowing five hits and one run. Landon Holderman hit a double and scored a run, Meyer hit a double and a single and sent two runners across home base, and Luke Holderman added a hit and an RBI. Senior Cooper Smith and junior Quinn McCabe both contributed one hit one run, and stole four bases. GRANVILLE 13, LAKE GEORGE 7 Lake George established a lead with five runs in the third inning, but Granville struck back in the following three innings with nine runs to win the game. For the Lakers, Smith had two hits, two RBIs, and scored a run in his two at-bats, while Landon Holderman was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run. Meyer had a hit, one RBI, and a run, while McCabe hit a single and scored a run. Freshman Alex Rajeski was credited with an RBI and walked twice, and Collier-Fisher had one hit and drew a walk. Luke Holderman scored a run and walked once, while Cody LeBarron added a hit. Luke Holderman, McCabe and LeBarron shared pitching duties. They collectively threw 168 pitches, striking out five batters and walking 11 while allowing 14 hits. Lake George stole 10 bases over the game
