Jonathan Mark Lough

SCHROON LAKE | Jonathan Mark Lough, 54, formerly of Schroon Lake, N.Y., arrived safely home in heaven after a long six-year battle with a serious and complicated illness on March 9, 2026. Because Jon knew Jesus Christ as His Savior, his family has the assurance and hope that he is with Him for eternity. We believe he is more alive in heaven than he has ever been on earth. Jonathan was uniquely wired by his Creator to have a passion for sound technology and music. His skills were noted by many in the field, and he was considered a friend to many household-name musicians. If given the choice, he would name his three greatest accomplishments as Andrew, Matthew, and Emily. He loved his children and was proud of their accomplishments in life. He enjoyed when they would visit during the past six years, and was grateful for their love, forgiveness, and grace towards him. Jonathan was loved deeply by his parents, brother and sister. It was often said among them, "When Jonathan speaks, people listen." He was known for his quietness, but the ability to speak with meaningful conversation when it mattered. Jonathan graduated from Mountainside Christian Academy in Schroon Lake, N.Y.; Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, N.Y.; and Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. His career in sound technology spanned 25 years. These years included being employed by Cedarville University, various churches, and CMA's Shell Point Village in Ft. Myers, Fla. Many remember him fondly as an avid golf player and amicable friend to all. A graveside service is being planned for 11 a.m. on May 23, 2026, at the Severance Cemetery in Schroon Lake, N.Y., where he will be buried near his beloved dad and several friends who have gone on before him. Schroon Lake was always "Home" to his heart. He is survived by his three children, Andrew Lough, Matthew Lough, and Emily (Lough) Hoagg (Jeffrey); the mother of his children and friend, Jennifer Mangold Miller; his mother, Carol Lough Deinum; his brother, Don Lough Jr. (Darla); and sister, Jodi O'Hara (Mark). He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces on both sides of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Word of Life, P.O. Box 600, Schroon Lake, N.Y., towards Student Fusion or The Word of Life Bible Institute Scholarship Program. These were programs that deeply impacted Jonathan's life as a young man.
