Hyde announces winners of 35th Annual High School Juried Show

GLENS FALLS | The Hyde Collection has announced the top finalists of the highly anticipated 35th annual High School Juried Show. This spring exhibition is an extraordinary platform for budding student artists across Warren, Washington, Saratoga, Hamilton, and Essex counties to showcase their talent and immerse themselves in a professional, competitive arts environment. The High School Juried Show, which will be on view at the Museum April 18 through May 17, with a satellite installation at Glens Falls Hospital from April 23 through May 18, is one of the nation's longest-running annual events of its kind. It spotlights the works of dozens of outstanding regional artists. This year, The Hyde received over 440 artwork submissions from 275 students representing 18 regional schools. Award winners were announced on Saturday, April 18, at the opening reception in The Helen Froehlich Auditorium. Among the 11 winners, two were from Ticonderoga High School: Curator's Award: Miya Savage, Ticonderoga High School, "Ares" North Country Arts Award: Ohana Fuller, Ticonderoga High School, "Anatomy of Becoming" Although not an official winner, Ti High's Emma Lastowski's skilled and provocative graphite image of a woman with an animal standing on her tongue garnered some attention. Award winners will receive one of the following: scholarships for art classes at SUNY Adirondack or a gift of membership at North Country Arts. Visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibition and vote for their favorite. The Visitor's Choice Award will be announced at the conclusion of the exhibition. The Hyde Collection is open Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To celebrate the 35th anniversary of this annual exhibition, The Hyde Collection produced a commemorative video that highlights the impact of the High School Juried Show. Thousands of individuals have been directly involved in the High School Juried Show, and countless more community members have experienced the talent of these young artists. In this milestone year, The Hyde reflects on the contributions of those involved with the High School Juried Show and looks forward to inspiring future generations and the continued growth of arts and culture in the Glens Falls region in the years to come. Students from the following New York school districts are included in this year's showcase: Argyle Central School, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School, Cambridge Central School, Crown Point Central School, Fort Ann Central School, Glens Falls Central School, Hudson Falls High School, Johnsburg Central School, Lake George Jr and Sr High School, North Warren Central School, Queensbury High School, Salem Central School, Saratoga Springs High School, Schroon Lake Central School, Schuylerville High School, South Glens Falls High School, Ticonderoga Central School and Whitehall Senior High School.
