Diane M. Howard

CROWN POINT | Diane M. Howard, 69, of Crown Point was taken into the arms of the Lord on Feb. 27, 2026, with her children by her side. She was born on an Airforce base in Greenland, Ohio, on Aug. 9, 1956, and is the daughter of the late Perry Troiano and the late Katherine Rooney (Troiano). Diane knew her calling was to make a difference in people's lives, and in 1982 she graduated from Morris County Vocational School with her LPN license. She went on to work at several places in New Jersey until ultimately moving to New York in 1988, and thus beginning her journey at Moses Ludington (Elderwood) Nursing Home in Ticonderoga. She had a genuine love and respect for all her patients and made it clear that nothing less would be tolerated! In 2015 she was reluctantly forced into early retirement due to a stroke, but that didn't stop her from doing private home care jobs and always being "on call" if her grandkids or a friend needed medical advice. She had a green thumb like no other and enjoyed her flower gardens and houseplants galore, always "rooting" clippings and trying to send you home with one or better yet, a bowl of her famous spaghetti sauce. Above all, she had a fierce love for family. She is survived by her three children, Theresa, James and Brandon Howard of Crown Point, N.Y.; and her grandchildren, Savannah, Hendrix and Gracelynn, all of whom were her everything. Also her brother, Perry Troiano of Kilgore, Texas, and her baby sis, Katherine Troiano-Bartsch of Lincoln Park, N.J. She was preceded in death by the father of her children and forever best friend, James E. Howard. Despite her own health issues, she never missed a holiday, birthday or opportunity to celebrate a success or dry a tear. Diane was a woman of robust strength and resilience; the things that should have broken her instead made her an incredibly kind, gentle, loving and selfless human. Her heart wasn't full until she was sure yours was, something the world could use more of. A celebration of memories is planned for April 19 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ticonderoga, N.Y., from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. All are welcome to attend!
