National Grid to distribute water, dry ice in hard-hit Warren Co.

CHESTERTOWN | As high winds continue to wreak havoc across Northern New York, Warren County remains especially hard hit as thousands of outages continued Tuesday afternoon and water distribution events were planned for Wednesday. An estimated 13,000 National Grid customers remained without power in Warren County as of 3 p.m., with widespread outages noted in Queensbury and Glens Falls, with areas in Thurman, Chester, Horicon, Hague and Lake George also affected, with hundreds of outages, downed trees and blocked roadways. As line crews worked on repairs, National Grid will distribute dry ice and bottled water on Wednesday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Chestertown and Queensbury. Customers seeking dry ice, to aid with refrigeration, are asked to bring a cooler or paper grocery bags to transport dry ice to their homes, and company personnel will provide information about its proper handling. The distribution sites will be held at: -Pottersville Volunteer Fire Department, 20 Valley Farm Rd. -West Glens Falls Fire Co. No. 1, 33 Luzerne Rd. Additional distribution sites and times may be announced depending on community needs. In total, National Grid worked to restore power to nearly 40,000 customers across the state early Tuesday. With high winds continuing into the night, additional outages are possible.
