Peru Drama Club presents Footloose: The Musical

PERU | The Peru Drama Club (PDC) will present "Footloose: the Musical" March 19-21, with a cast of 37 students from grades 6 through 12. "Footloose: The Musical," based on the hit 1984 movie, is an '80s-themed show about Ren McCormack, a city teenager who moves to a small conservative town, Bomont, where dancing is banned. He rebels against their strict rules, inspiring the town's youth to fight for their right to dance, while helping the community heal from a past tragedy. The stage show version features all the major hits from the film, such as "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins, "Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler, "Let's Hear It for the Boy" by Deniece Williams, "The Girl Gets Around" By Sammy Hagar and "Almost Paradise" By Mike Reno of "loverboy" and Ann Wilson of "Heart." This production is directed by Peru Drama Club Co-Advisor Meghan Matthews. In the past, Meghan has directed shows for many Peru Drama Club productions, including last year's Into the Woods, as well as this past December's production of Hadestown. She has also choreographed countless productions with PDC. This production is musically directed by Kristen Willman, Peru Drama Club Co-Advisor and Peru Middle and High school music teacher. She was also the music director for Hadestown. There will be a live orchestra pit consisting of nine members, conducted by Todd Pray. Todd is responsible for numerous productions with the Peru Drama Club and bringing the music of these shows to life. SCHEDULE March 19, 7 p.m. March 20, 7 p.m. March 21, 2 .p.m & 7 p.m. Peru High School Auditorium, 7 School St., Peru. Admission is $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
