Shirley Mae Noel

TICONDEROGA | Shirley Mae Noel, 89, of Ticonderoga, N.Y., passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on Feb. 9, 2026. Shirley was born on Nov. 7, 1936, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the daughter of Eugene Frederick Bright and Gladys Bright. She was raised on the Old Chilson Road with nine siblings; Norman, Robert and Thomas Bright, and Ruth Burns. She is predeceased by Arietta, Jack, and Francis "Punch" Bright, Helen Martin and Louise Johnson. Shirley dedicated 27 years of service working in the Ticonderoga Elementary School Cafeteria. She was a food service helper and eventually worked her way to head cook. She was known for always providing extra servings. She did not want students, teachers or other employees going hungry! Shirley retired from the Ticonderoga Elementary School and took a position as the hostess at the Ames Department Store in Ticonderoga, N.Y., where she would meet and greet the customers, which she always did with a big smile! Her final working adventure led her to the Silver Bay Post Office. Shirley worked at the Post Office in Silver Bay, N.Y., for 19 years. She absolutely loved this position and was always talking about the nice people she had met. She was very grateful for the new acquaintances and friends she had made at the Silver Bay Post Office! Shirley, better known as "Gram" by her family and many friends, loved children and helping others. She was always busy with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved attending sporting events, school ceremonies, parties and family vacations! Shirley also loved baking! She was always making special treats for her family and friends. One favorite treat that will never be forgotten was her "Homemade Pink Applesauce!" Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband of 36 years, Robert Eugene Noel. She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Morrison and her husband, Daniel Morrison; Karen Austin and her husband, Michael Austin; Lisa Wright and her husband, Kelly Wright; and her son, Robert Noel and his wife, Kelley Noel — all of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren: Nicole Delaney (Florida), Lauren Berrick (New York), Daniel Morrison (New York), Matthew Connery (New York), Christopher Connery (New York), Kendra Ellis (New York), Karissa Cook (New York), Brandon Austin (New York), Kylie Buskirk (Florida), Tyler Wright (New York), Tanner Wright (New York) and Haleigh Wright (North Carolina); and 24 great-grandchildren: Nadia Delaney, Sabrina Delaney, Adelaide Berrick, Matthew Connery Jr., Austin Lethbridge, Gavin Lethbridge, Tyler Mango, Carter Mango, Emma Cook, Audrey Cook, Ryan Cook, Natalie Cook, Claire Cook, River Cook, Poet Cook, Khaleesi Johnson, Karsen Austin, Kallen Austin, Juliette Buskirk, Preston Buskirk, Avery Wright, Ryker Wright, Isabella Wright and Axton Wright. Shirley's family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to her caregivers: Pam, Reagan, Teena and Geri. Your kindness and patience will never be forgotten! Services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 22,, 2026, at Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga. Calling hours will be from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Scott Tyler will officiate. A gathering at the Knights of Columbus in Ticonderoga, N.Y., will follow. All are invited to attend.
