Tommy Guns Pizzeria expands to Chestertown

CHESTERTOWN | TG North, now open at 6332 State Route 9, is part of a family. And that family (and their esteemed reputation for high-quality food) is proud to be your newest hosts. The story behind TG North, which opened on Jan. 21, is that of a young businessman, a service industry legacy, and a place that feels like home to its guests and its employees. "I think the hard work we had to put into getting off of the ground is what keeps us going now," revealed Anthony Fuller, Tommy Guns Pizzeria (TGP) owner. TG North- same great everything, mirror image, doing the same exact thing from the colors to the menu, everything is the same." The expansion from their flagship location in Warrensburg landed in Chestertown, and Fuller says what customers will come to expect is reliability (when in snowstorms and power outages, where families may need to order out, Fuller makes sure he and his team are stocked and ready to serve hungry patrons. When TGP first opened in 2018, they started small. They were located in the former Meraki barber, and due to their tiny size, were cooking their entrees in a pizza oven. But you do what you have to until you earn the trust and respect and repeat business of your patrons, as Fuller did. TGP happily outgrew that location and began renovation of their current 3745 Main Street location in March of 2020. It would take eight months for Fuller and a group of close friends to perform the work inside, with newspaper placed over the windows of the former furniture store, piquing curiosity. By Labor Day Weekend of that year, the work was complete, with a tavern following in May of 2021. And if a hospitality business is able to confidently open a second location, you can be sure they are sure they can, and will, succeed. The same quality, vibe, atmosphere and overall satisfaction rating, according to Fuller, are what can be expected at TG North. And the menu, just like in Warrensburg, will include the same top-notch and popular recipes crafted from the finest ingredients. "I knew from being on the customer and service side what is wanted, and that's fresh and homemade," Fuller remarked. "I get the best ingredients I can possibly get, and that is what we do." There are at least 10 staff whose sole responsibility is making sauce. Dough is made in-house, cheeses are blended on site. There's handmade meatballs, chicken par, chicken wings and various sauces- so much food, it's not even funny, Fuller said. "We are going through 750 pounds of wings and chef choice chicken breast a week now that we have the two places going, and that is minimum," Fuller said. "We go through more in the summer, we will be doing 20 cases of chef choice chicken and wings a week, come May at least, with 50-60 pounds per case." On average, TGP cranks out 100 pizzas per day, with even more ordered up during the summer months. "We have come a long way from our first location," Fuller said ."Now we have three kitchens, convection ovens, two restaurants, and eight weddings booked this year." Yes, TGP also does a strong catering business. Not one, but two of those weddings this year will fall during Garage Sale Weekend. "Nobody in Warrensburg or around Warrensburg is booking weddings, the biggest weekend in our town, but we did," Fuller said. "I have confidence in my staff to be able to keep the places going." That same trust in his staff, who have devoted themselves to being in the trenches with Fuller, is what gave him the confidence to add a second store in Chestertown. Fuller broke ground in April of 2025 on TG North. Having already undertaken a renovation already, Fuller soon realized the project of converting the second location into a matching vision was going to be a little harder than initially expected. They missed the summer season, fall came and went, and so did the long winter. The Federal shutdown derailed a loan, and things seemed to get paused. But TG North is here now, and with a few months before the summer season hits, that gives the business time to get comfortable and ease into itself. During COVID, TGP was considered essential and, already being set up with their delivery service, thrived during the pandemic. The business also cemented itself in customers' minds as a place with tasty cuisine that delivered consistent good results, which is worth its weight in the service industry. But as business-wise as Fuller, who is only 40, was, he also knew something else- businesses that go the extra mile are community-minded, and make it a priority to give back to the people they serve. "We try to always give back to the community, we never forget where we came from," Fuller expressed. " I never really had a lot, but we try to give back and do the right thing and keep people happy. When there's a family in need we help them." TGP was the most recent recipient of the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce's Business of the Year. That distinguished accolade achievement was the result of community outreach and going the extra, extra mile in order to make people happy. It's not unusual for Fuller to sponsor fundraisers for families enduring trying circumstances, as well as sponsoring local sports teams and making charitable donations. During the COVID lockdown, Fuller provided free lunches to schoolkids, as many depended on the daily school lunch for adequate nutrition. When downstate families made the trek to the region to witness the solar eclipse in April of 2024 and ended up in a two-mile traffic backup in Warrensburg on the return trip, Fuller also made sure they were fed thanks to TGP. So monumental was this that it appeared in publications nationally. But Fuller said if it wasn't for his amazing staff, none of that would ever be possible "All the praise goes to my crew, we have 40 employees, and I would put my crew up against anybody," he said. "From the chefs to pizza cooks to the leaders I have in there, I can't say enough great things. It's really hard in a lot of places to get help sometimes, but in the culture and family we have built, we all have each other's backs." And the best part about the TGP tribe? It really is like family, which is probably one of the reasons Fuller sees very little staff turnover. "Chef Zack takes his job very seriously and the one who has helped expand us from he has taken us to the next level with specials and pushing weddings," Fuller praised. There are also Adam/D2, Nick, Drew, Don, Amanda, and Jen who are all invaluable fixtures. Fuller's father, Wayne, is also employed at TGP, with his mom Andrea coming in to help during the summers. "I remember standing on a bucket at six years old washing dishes in my father's restaurant (he used to own Garcia's in Lake George)," Fuller recalled. "He went to school for this business, and now the roles are reversed." Fuller's life partner Kaycee has taken over the bar, and his teenage daughter Cruize is the TGP savvy social media guru. Then, of course, there is Tommy, who has been with Fuller from the very inception of the business. The two began working together in 2016 on a Thomas Arnold bread route, and Tommy would always encourage Fuller to open a pizza shop. "We ended up doing it and it took off," Fuller said. Tommy was also the inspiration for the pizzeria's name, Tommy Guns. "We seem to be doing it right," Fuller reflected. "I still learn every day. We keep people on their toes, they think we are crazy- you never know what we are going to do next." The pie is the limit. Tommy Guns Pizzeria in Warrensburg and TG North in Chestertown are both open seven days a week. Warrensburg is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Chestertown is open 12 p.m. -9 p.m.
