Warrensburg's Grand Union closing in March

WARRENSBURG | The Grand Union store in Warrensburg is set to close in March as the store moves to reduced hours ahead of the closure. Shoppers were recently surprised to learn of the pending closure as flyers notified the community of the change. While a firm date has not yet been announced, the grocery store is expected to close permanently sometime in March. As of Jan. 25, it will have reduced hours of operation between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Grand Union operations started in 1916 and today has 11 locations in New York and Vermont. While a handful of other locations are also now bracing for closure, corporate execs said the Peru and Saranac Lake locations are not impacted. Lauren La Bruno, senior vice president of communications and marketing for C&S Wholesale Grocers, said that while the company has a long-standing practice of not commenting on structural changes, C&S continuously looks for ways to create value for its customers and accelerate its ability to deliver best-in-class services. "We remain committed to satisfying our customers' needs to the fullest and are dedicated to taking the necessary actions to achieve our overall strategic priorities that drive our long-term growth," La Bruno told The Sun in confirming the local closure and continuation of the Peru and Saranac Lake locations.
