Frechette, Augustin, Champagne lead 2025 CVAC football honors

PLATTSBURGH | Peru's Jake Frechette, Plattsburgh High's Brandley Augustin and Saranac's Caleb Champagne highlighted the 2025 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference football all-stars with Player of the Year honors. Peru's Ryon O'Connell and Saranac's Dylan Everleth were voted Co-Coaches of the Year, while Ticonderoga earned the Ray Holmes Sportsmanship Award following its return from 8-man football. Through seven conference games, Frechette completed 67 of 103 passes for 1,041 yards, 12 touchdowns and only three interceptions. The senior quarterback completed 65% of his attempts and finished with a quarterback rating of 182.57 to earn Offensive Most Valuable Player. Augustin, a 6-foot-1, 232-pound senior, totaled 52 tackles in league play, including nine tackles for loss, one sack and two fumble recoveries, securing Defensive Most Valuable Player. Champagne anchored a Saranac offense that averaged 35 points and 359 yards per CVAC contest. Defensively, the senior two-way standout helped the Spartans allow only 14 points per game, surrendering just 173 yards while contributing two CVAC interceptions on his way to Lineman of the Year honors. O'Connell guided Peru to a 7-0 conference record and CVAC championship, while Everleth led Saranac to a 5-2 mark after the Spartans finished 1-5 a season ago.
