ALBANY | Michael Cashman has been officially sworn into office as New York's 115th District assemblyman. Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie made the appointment official Thursday morning, swearing Cashman in at the Assembly Chamber beside the former Plattsburgh Town Supervisor's wife and mother. Assemblyman Cashman (D-Plattsburgh) called the moment deeply humbling as he now looks to lead the 115th District. "Growing up in a working-class family, I never imagined I would have the privilege to represent the people of Clinton, Franklin, and Essex Counties in the People's Chamber. Over the past several months, I've listened closely to neighbors, families, and community leaders about what matters most. It is about making life more affordable, keeping our communities safe, and protecting our future," Assemblyman Cashman said after the ceremony. "These conversations and those to come will guide the decisions I make. This work is not about one person or one office; it's about all of us, working together to strengthen our communities and build a North Country that is full of opportunity for generations to come. I'm humbled to serve." Assemblyman Cashman's initial committee assignments in the New York State Assembly are to the Agriculture Committee, the Tourism, Parks, and Sports Development Committee, and the Veterans' Affairs Committee, three panels he said directly reflect the strengths and priorities of the 115th Assembly District.
