New downtown holiday event debuts in Ticonderoga Dec. 19

TICONDEROGA | The holiday season in downtown Ticonderoga just got even sweeter. The North Country Rural Development Coalition (NRDC) and the Artscapes Committee, in partnership with the North Country Roots Committee and, have announced a brand-new addition to the town's holiday lineup — "Cookies and Cheers: A Downtown Holiday Walk," happening Friday, Dec. 19, from 4–8 p.m. This cheerful new event rounds out a full month of festive, family-friendly celebrations in downtown Ticonderoga, joining two beloved traditions — the Community Tree Lighting & Train Ride on Nov. 29 and Holiday Shopping & Dining Night featuring IlluminArt on Dec. 5. COOKIES AND CHEERS: A DOWNTOWN HOLIDAY WALK On Friday, Dec. 19, Downtown Ticonderoga will transform into a sweet winter wonderland for this brand-new community event. Children and families are invited to enjoy a free cookie stroll through local shops and landmarks. Each stop along the Cookie Trail will feature a special holiday treat and a punch on their cookie card. Completed passports can be entered for a chance to win a holiday gift basket filled with North Country favorites from each shop. The full list of Sip Stops and Cookie Trail assignments will be announced soon, along with downloadable event maps and cards. Festivities at the inaugural event include: -Santa visits, crafts, and free face painting by The Art Bucket at Punky Noodles / Champ Café -Free children's trackless train rides near Inky the Elf at Sun Community News -"Cookie Bear" storytime and craft at Black Watch Library (limited to 30 children) -Ticonderoga Arts / Downtown Gallery featuring Eloise & Co. with live folk music, dancing, and warm holiday refreshments -Food trucks: 80K Plates and Cousins Maine Lobster -Lighted Musical Canopy installation along Montcalm Street, presented through the partnership between NRDC and Punky Noodles Additional attractions, including carriage rides and a potential drone light show, are still pending as planning continues. Cookie and Sip Cards will be available at NRDC's office (111 Montcalm St.) from 4–7 p.m. — one per family, first come, first served (limit 300). Participating businesses will also have cards available for visitors, but boxes will only be distributed at the NRDC office. A CELEBRATION OF LOCAL COLLABORATION Special thanks were extended to Dylan Menke, Katie Andersen, Jaimee Kuhl, and Jada Beaudet for their leadership, creativity, and teamwork in bringing the new event to life. NRDC officials said their collaboration reflects the community spirit that defines Ticonderoga and continues to make its downtown thrive. "This event showcases the best of Ticonderoga — our small businesses, artists, and families coming together to celebrate the season," said Nicole Justice Green, Executive Director of NRDC. "Cookies and Cheers is a perfect reflection of how placemaking brings warmth, joy, and life to our historic downtown." The highly anticipated new event is presented by: NRDC, Downtown Public Art Committee, Artscapes & North Country Roots Committee It comes on the heels of other Ticonderoga area holiday events, including the Nov. 29 Community Tree Lighting and Train Ride, kicking off the holidays with festive lights and free trackless train rides sponsored by NRDC. On Dec. 5, Ticonderoga's Holiday Shopping & Dining Night also features IlluminArt sponsored by NRDC, Artscapes, and the North Country Roots Committee. Downtown visitors will be treated to Victorian carolers, live window painting by artist-in-residence Filomena Jack, and glowing alleyway illuminations lighting up downtown all month long.
