N. River Fire Co.'s Annual Harvest Dinner celebrates 40 years of community spirit

NORTH RIVER | The North River Fire Company Auxiliary is inviting its community to enjoy the Annual Harvest Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the firehouse. This event isn't just a delicious meal; it's a four-decades-long community tradition and vital fundraiser for the department. For over 40 years, this dinner has brought together neighbors, families, and hunters to share an evening of good food and community spirit. The Auxiliary, recognized as the longest-standing fire company auxiliary in the area, lovingly prepares and serves a hearty, traditional meal featuring boiled ham, cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes, and rutabaga, followed by an array of delicious homemade desserts. COMMUNITY SPIRIT, COMMUNITY GENEROSITY One hundred percent of the Harvest Dinner's proceeds is used to support North Creek's firefighting heroes, but what makes this tradition truly special is the incredible generosity of the community: all ingredients are donated by friends and neighbors. This ensures that every dollar spent on a meal goes directly to support the essential work of the volunteer firefighters and that every North River resident has a hand in its continued success. "Our two annual dinners are a lifeline for the Fire Company," said Marge Donohue, Auxiliary chairperson. "The cost of outfitting a single volunteer with necessary equipment now exceeds $6,000. This financial barrier makes it incredibly difficult to attract and retain new volunteers. The funds raised by the Auxiliary help ensure our firefighters have the tools they need to keep our community safe." Guests have the option of enjoying their meal as eat-in at the firehouse or as take-out. The Harvest Dinner's setting is the North River Fire Company's firehouse, 13th Lake Road in North River. Dinner will be available for eat-in or take-out from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children under 12.
