Mooers woman found deceased as husband remains in custody

PLATTSBURGH | Family, friends and the community are mourning the loss of a young mother who authorities believe was shot and killed by her husband over the weekend. Loved ones had taken to social media in a frantic search for Chloe (Rinn) Henry, 25, who had not been seen since Friday night and was formally listed as a missing person Monday. Law enforcement from several agencies quickly launched an investigation into her whereabouts amid concerns of past violence in the couple's relationship and took her husband, Keith Henry, into custody Monday evening. The 33-year-old Plattsburgh man was reportedly the last one to see her in downtown Plattsburgh before she went missing. Loved ones said it was highly unusual for her not to make contact or return to her young sons. Worry and concern grew as the hours ticked by and calls went unanswered, with no signs of Chloe. After questioning and further investigation Monday night, authorities now believe Keith Henry shot and killed the young woman inside his vehicle near Bear Swamp Road and Ausable Point in the Town of Peru. After being taken into custody, Henry was transported to the Plattsburgh barracks for further questioning as his apartment remained cordoned off through the night and investigators continued to collect evidence in the case. On Tuesday morning, Chloe's remains were somberly located in the area of Ridge Road in the Town of Chazy. The Clinton County Coroner pronounced her deceased and authorized the removal of the body to Glens Falls Hospital. An autopsy Wednesday determined the young mother died from gunshot wounds to the head and back. Her death has officially been classified as a homicide. Later Tuesday, Keith Henry was formally charged with second-degree murder and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Peru Town Court and remanded to Clinton County Jail without bail. As hundreds across the region prayed for her safe return and searched for any clues in her disappearance, their prayers turned to shock, outrage and heartfelt condolences as the tragic violence came to light and their worst fears confirmed. Services are expected to be announced in the coming days as her family and the close-knit community now mourn her far-reaching and devastating loss. Chloe is being remembered as a doting mother and gentle soul, a kind friend to many and cherished by family near and far. Staff and residents at Plattsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where Chloe was employed as a CNA, were among those devastated by the heartbreaking loss. In true North Country spirit, community members came together in mourning within hours to collect donations and funds for Chloe's young sons, who remain in the care of relatives. Donations of diapers (size 6 and 7), wipes and Gentlease formula (purple can) were being collected, as well as gift cards. Supporters were being steered to a Venmo through Corinna Fish as a GoFundMe was also being started to assist with the unexpected expenses. Those interested in donating were asked to verify the correct fundraisers, as fictitious accounts arose as the tragedy unfolded. Donations- monitored by surveillance cameras- can also be dropped off at 5299 North Catherine St. in Plattsburgh. The homicide investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, with assistance from the Forensic Identification Unit, the Clinton County District Attorney's Office, the Plattsburgh Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff's Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.
